Hey Loves,
It’s Aliyah, and today’s post is my first individual post. I hope you liked Em’s solo post and are excited for mine! In this post, I’m going to be comparing Birchbox to Ipsy. Both of these brands are Beauty Subscription Boxes that I’ve tried. They each have products ranging through the categories of hair, skincare, and makeup. I’d say that I think that each brand is equally as great, for me, however I will share my in depth opinions below in case you’re interested in starting a subscription with them. I also will link their websites here if you wanna check them out!
Ipsy:
Sending you five sample size products a month, Ipsy’s subscription service costs $12/month and you can cancel anytime. When joining their service you’re asked a bunch of questions to help personalize your profile. One of the questions I loved answering was which brands I loved/ wanted to try, I found this so cool because they offer so many popular brands. Some of these brands include, Benefit, Glossier and Tarte. While personalizing your account you’re also asked how often you want to receive each type of product. Which I thought was very attentive of Ipsy, because I think you would be very dissatisfied if you received 3 bright red lipsticks in a row, if you prefer pinky lipsticks. From holding a subscription with ipsy I’ve learned most of their products tend to be very small. Obviously, Ipsy advertises that their bags (without add-ons) only feature sample-sized products, however don’t be surprised with how small their products are. Also, from my experience I’ve noticed they usually send you a lot of the same products. (In my case I’m sent a lot of eye shadow brushes and eye creams.) One huge pro of Ipsy is their packaging, each month your product is sent in a cute small makeup bag. Overall, I’m actually a huge fan of ipsy and would definitely recommend them.
Birchbox:
Similar to Ipsy, Birchbox sends you five products a month, as well. For Birchbox you can only purchase your subscription in increments of three months, six months or twelve months. Depending on your plan, your subscription can cost between $13-$15/month, ($15 for three months, $14 for six, and $13 for twelve.) Birchbox has a wider variation of brands that they include, a couple of those being Tatcha, Milk Makeup, and Laura Mercier. However, per my experience, Birchbox tends to send brands that weren’t as popular more often and only items from more popular brands every once in a while. (Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because I’ve been able to find more brands through them.) In comparison with Ipsy, Birchbox’s products are a bit larger. They’re still all sample sizes but still I’ve noticed the products they offer are bigger than Ipsy’s. One other thing I’ve noticed about Birchbox is they have a good variety of the types of products they send, for example they send hair masks and cleansers and lip glosses rather than just the same products every time. Also, Birchboxes are sent in super cute boxes with adorable patterns on them. (I usually save them and use them to store things!) In general, I love Birchbox and think you should def check them out!
Anyways loves, I hope my info/experience can help you! Look out for more posts from us soon!
Xoxo,
Aliyah
