Function of Beauty X Target Review *is it worth it?*

Don’t worry, Aliyah and I will be making posts together again very soon but sometimes it’s easier to just do some separate ones… and we hope you enjoy these! Today I wanted to give you a review of the Function of Beauty X Target collection.

A little about Function of Beauty:

If you don’t know what Function of Beauty is, it is a haircare brand that personalizes products for specific hair goals. To customize your products you take a short quiz describing what your hair is like and your hair goals. Then, they custom make your hair products and mail them to your house!

However, they recently launched a collection with Target… which is what I will be talking about today!

Obviously, when you buy these products in a store you can’t take the quiz and personalize it right there. But, the really cool thing about the collection is first you purchase your base for your hair type (wavy shampoo/conditioner, curly shampoo/conditioner, straight shampoo/conditioner, or coily shampoo/conditioner). Then, they sell these booster shots which come with two oil packets that you add to the shampoo and conditioner (these include anti-frizz, smooth scalp, deep condition, volumize, color protection, shine, curl definition, thermal protection, length, and straighten). So, you can add up to three of these boosters to personalize your hair care for your hair goals!

What I purchased:

I recently purchased the wavy shampoo and the curly conditioner. They were out of stock of the wavy conditioner, so I decided to just mix and match these two. I think normally you would buy the same shampoo and conditioner (for example wavy shampoo and wavy conditioner) but since they were out of stock I figured this would work! I also purchased the anti-frizz booster shot. I really want to try the thermal protection and deep condition booster shots someday!

What my hair is like (before using these products):

I would say my natural hair is pretty wavy which some curls. I have always noticed that my hair gets frizzy and poofy after I shower, which is why I always straighten it! Recently, I have been wanting to be able to wear it more naturally without it looking super frizzy. Also, I'm a swimmer, so during swim season, my hair gets damaged from all the chemicals in the pool.

What I noticed after one wash (without the booster shot):

I used the wavy shampoo, curly conditioner, and this heat protection/smoothing cream from L’Oreal (highly recommend this product too!!!) I probably shouldn’t have used the cream so I could see how it worked without it, but oh well I still think I got a feel for it! My hair overall was SO much smoother than normal even without brushing it! I noticed after it dried, my curls were much less frizzy (even without the booster shot). In addition to that, my hair smelled amazing. Overall, I totally give it a 10/10 after my first use. It was different than any other shampoo I have used and made my hair very soft!!!

What I noticed after trying with then booster:

This was my second time using the product but the first time with the booster shot (I described what that is above). Overall, I still really loved the product and saw the same results as the first time. I do feel like the anti-frizz booster made my hair smoother, but not as much as I wished. It is probably just that my hair is so frizzy that this one product can’t tame it all. I want to try and get other boosters and see if combined they will make more of a difference.

Overall, I would 100% recommend this product to anyone! I thought it worked really well even just after a few uses. If you want, I can totally update you in the future on how it works long-term!
